Happy Easter from Fiji!

During Holy Week and Easter 2024, all our Sacred Hearts brothers in formation in Fiji took part in the liturgies at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Lami, Fiji. From Palm Sunday to Easter, our Sacred Hearts brothers were excited and ready to serve the people of God. On Palm Sunday, Father Johnathan was the main celebrant and Brother Charlie Martinez delivered the Gospel reflection. In his reflection, Charlie reminded us that, "Passion Sunday is a reminder that God’s grace, forgiveness, and love are stronger than our suffering, our wounds, our collapses, our failures, and seeming despairs. New life awaits us."

On Holy Thursday, Father Johnathan was the main celebrant of the Mass of the Lord's Supper. During the ritual of foot washing, the brothers joined Father Johnathan in washing the feet of twelve parishioners. This was truly a moving and emotional gesture for all the brothers. Brother Marc tells us that, "foot washing is a reminder for us to help those who are on the journey towards Christ...to be there for them and remind them that they are not alone." At the Easter Vigil, Brother Te and Brother Marc assisted Father Sikeli Tuilevuka (the Pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish) with the Mass celebration. And on Easter Sunday, Father Johnathan was the main celebrant and Brother Te sang the paschal sequence, Víctimae Pascháli laudes.

Overall, our Sacred Hearts brothers had a beautiful and reflective Holy Week with the people of God. All the brothers are truly grateful that they had a chance to meet, talk, and sing the Mass hymns with the people. It was indeed a blessing and privilege for them to journey with the parishioners of Immaculate Conception all throughout Holy Week. Special thanks to Father Sikeli Tuilevuka, for inviting and allowing our Sacred Hearts brothers to partake in their Holy Week celebrations. Thank you brothers and keep up the good work!
