Final Vows for Bro. Vishal Khute, ss.cc. July 9, 2026
Br. Vishal professed his final vows into the hands of Provincial Very Reverend Fr. Lane Akiona, ss.cc. at St. Joseph Church, Fairhaven, MA on July 9th at 6 p.m.
Fr. Lane in his homily remarked that this profession took place on the 199th anniversary of the first mass celebrated on Hawaii by a Sacred Hearts missionary, and reminded Br. Vishal to continue in this legacy of mission and service.
Fr. Lane said that this call to be a witness of the love of Jesus and Mary will not always be easy- there will be challenges.
Fr. Lane shared that as a young person growing up on Molokai he would look down from the pali at the settlement of Kalaupapa, and was mindful of the sacrifices of St. Damien, St. Marianne, and Br. Joseph Dutton and how they were witnesses of God's closeness to the residents there.
Fr. Lane also thanked the brothers in Fairhaven for their support of Br. Vishal and especially their prayers.
